Comparing the “Big Name” Kid Carriers

Choosing a Kid Carrier is tough.  We get questions all the time about which carriers we recommend and how they compare.  Bottom line (and I say this a lot) – you HAVE to try it on to find out which one fits YOU best.  It’s like trying on a pack you are going to wear backpacking.  Fit is crucial.  Some big-time family outdoor enthusiasts will not agree with me about favorite carriers (because they fit each person different.)  However, we do our very best to show the advantages and disadvantages of our favorites and then let you choose from there.

This (fairly) short video highlights and compares some of the features of the following carriers: Deuter Kid Carrier II, Deuter Kid Carrier III (updated version for 2014 here *not shown in video*), Kelty Pathfinder 3.0 and the Osprey Poco Plus.  Below I have links to our written reviews and some other videos we have done about each carrier.

Feel free to ask questions, agree/disagree, and leave your own opinions in the comments – that discussion (as long as it is appropriate) helps everyone.  We will certainly weigh-in too!

Kelty, Deuter and Osprey generously provided us these carriers for review.  However, as always, the opinions expressed here are completely and honestly our own.  Additionally, some of these links are affiliates.  Should you choose to click through and use them, they help offset the cost of this blog in a (very) small way.  See our full disclosure here.

Amelia, what framed carrier would you recommend for a tall person? My husband is 6’5″ and tried on the Osprey Poco Plus in store but it sat just above his hips in the tallest setting. Thank you! We named our now 6 month old Amelia, beautiful name.
