O.F.F.: Polar Feet Review + Giveaway

O.F.F. = Outdoor Fashion Friday.
Our (almost) weekly segment featuring our favorite styles for the season. Everything I share are pieces that can be worn all day long and stand up to the “use and abuse” of serious adventures. While I am far from a “fashionista”, I appreciate clothing that is worth my hard-earned money. It’s what I wear and love!

While at the Outdoor Retailer show this winter, I stumbled upon the Canadian company, Polar Feet. I first was intrigued by their “cubbies” booties for infants and then more and more impressed by their line for keeping babies and kids (and adults!) warm as I moved through their small booth. A small family-owned company with products made in Canada, they “laugh at the cold”.

Per our request, Polar Feet sent us a couple pair of socks and some of those Cubbies to try out. Unbeknownst to them, that shipment caused some serious jealousy from the brother who didn’t fit the socks and wanted ones with “grippies” and didn’t understand why he was left out. I promised him I’d order him a pair too and myself some while I was at it. Obviously we were all immediately impressed.

Well-made for a comfortable fit, the non-skid fleece socks are a perfect alternative to wearing cumbersome slippers. While they are also available without the non-skid bear feet, you really can’t feel them in shoes or boots – I don’t see why you would want them without the non-skid really.

The kid sizes are available in small (size 7-8), medium (9-11) and large (12-2). They also sell infant fleece booties and “softsiders” for tots.

The Cubbies have proven to be the perfect winter bootie I was hoping for. Polar Feet has made a special effort to keep their booties ON babies, without being too tight. They have a unique around the ankle velcro closure to achieve just the right fit.

The inside of the Cubbies are soft and wicking and the bottom has a small-than-the-socks non-stick appliqué that make it easy for L to cruise around the house. The bottom of the soles are flexible, but more formed than the fleece booties with a true sole. They work both on their own and tucked inside a snowsuit.

I love that they keep her feet warm AND stay on.
