O.F.F. Sunday Afternoon Hats for Kids + Giveaway

O.F.F. Sunday Afternoon Hats for Kids + Giveaway

O.F.F. = Outdoor Fashion Friday.
Our (almost) weekly segment featuring our favorite styles for the season. Everything I share are pieces that can be worn all day long and stand up to the “use and abuse” of serious adventures. As a family, we appreciate clothing that is worth our hard-earned money. It’s what we wear and trust!

O.F.F. Sunday Afternoon Hats for Kids + Giveaway

I’ll start by saying that Sunday Afternoon hats aren’t new for us. Our kids have been wearing them for the past 5 years and they are worn by many of our favorite kid adventure partners. We’ve grown to trust them more and more over the years and, at this point, our absolutely our top pick for kids’ sun protection hats. The first one we bought has been passed on from kid to kid and is still in awesome condition 5 years later.

There are some new styles this season that we really love. And I am super excited about some new ones coming out this fall for the whole family – but we’ll save that for after the summer….

Kids’ Play Hat

This is THE best hat for babies and sun protection that I have seen. It adequately shades their face. It covers the back of their neck completely. It is light and supple for easy movement. It has a chin strap to keep it on with their signature SmartStrap® breakaway chinstrap technology for safety. AND it’s stroller friendly (the back of the hat doesn’t have a brim so won’t get in the way when they are laying against the back of the stroller or sleeping, etc.)

Kids’ Sun Tripper Hat

J (age: almost-6) isn’t crazy about wearing sun hats. Most of the time I tell him to deal with it and wear them anyway. But, sometimes the battle isn’t worth it and he’s ok wearing a cap. He was SO excited about the Sun Tripper. It adjusts for a perfect fit and has mesh vents for keeping cool. My favorite feature is the folding clamshell brim which allows it to be packed up super small for stashing in a pocket or side of a pack to take out later. Plus, I think it’s super cute on him (but I AM his mom, so admittedly biased.)

Scout Hat

The Scout is a good, basic sun hat with great ventilation, the signature SmartStrap® breakaway chinstrap and great sun coverage. I love that the underside of the brim is dark to reduce glare. P appreciates the large mesh panels to keep him cool. Finally, the hat adjust easily with a toggle strap for a perfect fit every time (even as the child grows!)

  1. Any idea how the sizes run? My kids have abnormally large heads. My two year old is about to outgrow a 4t hat and my 9 mo old is too big for a 24m hat.

    1. I would say they run true to size….however, my oldest (in the sun tripper) has a big head too and he is in the “youth” size and it fits him well! The nice thing about them is they are adjustable so if you size up you can always cinch down! Hope that helps??
