O.F.F UV Skinz + Giveaway

    O.F.F. = Outdoor Fashion Friday.
Our (almost) weekly segment featuring our favorite styles for the season. Everything I share are pieces that can be worn all day long and stand up to the “use and abuse” of serious adventures. As a family, we appreciate clothing that is worth our hard-earned money. It’s what we wear and trust!

I am not a fan of sunscreen – it’s my least favorite part of summer. Mostly because I worry about chemicals, I hate having to reapply, and wrestling my kids down AND covering them in it is like pig wrestling. I’ve recently found some natural sunscreen at Costco that is actually bearable to use, but that’s another post. So, I do a lot of covering us all up as much as I possibly can. Sun hats and sunglasses are a must. Sun protective clothing and swim shirts, etc. make my life a whole lot easier. Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing some of our favorites we’ve found.

Today I’m thrilled to share from UV Skinz. Featuring UPF 50+ sun protective clothing for the whole family, their line has a little something for everyone. Across the board, we’ve found that all the pieces we’ve tried have held up extremely well to rough abrasion, lots of wear and washings and feel good on the skin (which is essential!)

In May, UV Skinz did a big promotion to help raise awareness of the dangers of skin cancer. While we were still getting SNOW in May, we do feel strongly about the fact that our skin should not be taken lightly and protecting the one body we have is something that should be taught from a young age. L’s UV Skinz shirt says it all.

I love that UV Skinz sells not just the basic sun shirt and shorts, but also skirts and dresses, sun hats and more affordable sets (top, bottom and hat). Both the boys think the fact that their hats match their shorts is about the coolest thing ever – I say whatever it takes for them to wear it all happily! You’ll notice in the photo that J’s shirt is pretty dirty – good evidence that they play hard and aren’t just splashing around. It came out easily in the next wash.

Finally, sometimes I worry so much about the kids and being protected, that I forget about myself. I had the opportunity to try out their half-zip ruched long sleeve and have been thrilled. I can wear it as a sun shirt or in the water and I stay cool and protected.

      4. Eugenie says:
      5. Diane Richards says:

Being allergic to every lotion and cream sun screen and sun block (zinc oxide allergic was just as bad if not worse than the one I had to Paba), I really appreciate finding a resource that has swim suits taht will fit a girl with a curvy figure and provide protection from the sun.

If I won, I would get the Aloha Short Sleeve Sun & Swim Shirt for Women in a heartbeat! This would be perfect for kayaking adventures 🙂

      6. jodi Armstrong says:

It’s a tough choice with so many cute choices. I’d probably get my daughter a top maybe the tiedye one. Or one with a zipper.

      9. DebbieKL says:

I’m not a fan of sunblock either and bad burns stink too! I’d love to get two short sleeved sun & swim shirts for my girls!

      14. Anne@ Family Base Camp says:

I was just thinking this week that I should start buying long sleeve swim shirts for the kids rather than just short sleeve. I wouldn’t have to put on as much sunscreen and they’d be protected even more with the material. Here’s one I’d get to fit my daughter and then have my son wear it when he grows into it: http://www.uvskinz.com/Warm-Skinz-Boys-p/030750.htm

      15. I would look at these zip shirts for my boy, http://www.uvskinz.com/Boys-Full-Zip-Water-Jacket-p/030364.htm
Would be easy to unzip as he gets hot.

      16. Ashley B. says:

I really like the Teal water jacket for me and and the Teal Purple swim shirt for my daughter!

      17. I love that they carry adult sun clothes. I also prefer to cover up over applying sunscreen!

      18. Rom Kruse says:

Womens Long Sleeve Half-Zip Ruched Sun Shirt – Black Stripes

      19. I would get my son a swim shirt since he will be going to Androis in the Bahamas for his eighth grade trip

      20. My girls have nice sun hats, but I’d like one for myself, too. The Sunny Swim hats are my favorite http://www.uvskinz.com/Sunny-Swim-Hat-Women-p/042455.htm?1=1&CartID=0.

      21. Kimberly says:

I would get the water jacket in teal. I like that they have so many long sleeved options. We have skin cancer in the family, so I worry about UV exposure all of the time. http://www.uvskinz.com/Water-Jacket-Women-p/040362.htm?1=1&CartID=0

      22. The Sierra Straw cowboy hat. Would be great.

      23. Laura C says:

The Long Sleeve Sun & Swim Shirt for Baby Boy in Navy and Ocean Blue looks like a winner.

      24. laurie murley says:
