O.F.F. = Outdoor Fashion Friday.
Our (almost) weekly segment featuring our favorite styles for the season. Everything I share are pieces that can be worn all day long and stand up to the “use and abuse” of serious adventures. As a family, we appreciate clothing that is worth our hard-earned money. It’s what we wear and trust!
I am not a fan of sunscreen – it’s my least favorite part of summer. Mostly because I worry about chemicals, I hate having to reapply, and wrestling my kids down AND covering them in it is like pig wrestling. I’ve recently found some natural sunscreen at Costco that is actually bearable to use, but that’s another post. So, I do a lot of covering us all up as much as I possibly can. Sun hats and sunglasses are a must. Sun protective clothing and swim shirts, etc. make my life a whole lot easier. Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing some of our favorites we’ve found.
Today I’m thrilled to share from UV Skinz. Featuring UPF 50+ sun protective clothing for the whole family, their line has a little something for everyone. Across the board, we’ve found that all the pieces we’ve tried have held up extremely well to rough abrasion, lots of wear and washings and feel good on the skin (which is essential!)
In May, UV Skinz did a big promotion to help raise awareness of the dangers of skin cancer. While we were still getting SNOW in May, we do feel strongly about the fact that our skin should not be taken lightly and protecting the one body we have is something that should be taught from a young age. L’s UV Skinz shirt says it all.
I love that UV Skinz sells not just the basic sun shirt and shorts, but also skirts and dresses, sun hats and more affordable sets (top, bottom and hat). Both the boys think the fact that their hats match their shorts is about the coolest thing ever – I say whatever it takes for them to wear it all happily! You’ll notice in the photo that J’s shirt is pretty dirty – good evidence that they play hard and aren’t just splashing around. It came out easily in the next wash.
Finally, sometimes I worry so much about the kids and being protected, that I forget about myself. I had the opportunity to try out their half-zip ruched long sleeve and have been thrilled. I can wear it as a sun shirt or in the water and I stay cool and protected.
