This summer the boys and Mtn Papa and I have had an opportunity to wear some new hiking boot styles from Hi-Tec. To be quite honest, I have been only mildly impressed in the past with Hi-Tec, but after this round of testing have bumped them up to an all-around favorite for our family. It’s one of the things I really do love about Hi-Tec – they’re continually improving their footwear…and it shows!
Below are two pairs we have been particularly impressed with:
As the graphic below shows, these are made for backpacking….but are light enough for everyday hiking too. After wearing them successfully and comfortably for a week of hiking, I literally got rid of two of my other pairs of go-to hiking boots. These have better arch support, far better grip, better comfort (even for my wide, finicky feet) and are no issue in mud or water.
For Kids: Tucano Jr. ($54.99)
Available in sizes 10 – 4, this may just be the best hiking boots my kids have worn. P (age 5) has a hard time with boots and his feet seem to never fit what they are supposed to. For the first time ever, he didn’t complain, trip over his shoes, or have trouble slipping on the rocks and dirt. The grip is fantastic, the ties ensure a good fit and they’re light enough to let kids worry about hiking and not their feet. Plus, they come with Hi-Tec’s Big Fit system which allows for the boots to fit longer just bit removing one of the two inserts.
Hi-Tec provided us these boots as samples, but all opinions here are entirely our own (as always!)!
