There’s something incredibly cozy about winter. To me, it means playing in the snow during the day and snuggling up to a good book or game or kid chaos (call it what you want) when the sun goes down early. There’s a bit of an art to staying warm and comfortable, and once you master it, winter becomes all the more beautiful.
We also happen to wear slippers in our home 9 months out the year. Our Park Service “Mission 66” home doesn’t have incredible insulation and we would rather spend money on ski passes than keeping the house super warm. Weird as that sounds, I know we aren’t alone out there!
Besides home, we wear them winter camping and the indoor/outdoor styles after a good ski.
About a year ago, I discovered Giesswein and we have embraced them as our family winter shoe/slipper of choice. We love them so much that I wanted to share them here – they literally are what every walking member of our family is wearing right now.
Here’s what sets them aside:
- The arch support! Seriously. Slipper arch support. They take a little getting used to, like any arch support does, but they’re incredible. Slippers vary by support levels so check the site when ordering! You can customize what you like and even use your own inserts, if desired.
- Very warm with no itch or stink. And since they’re wool, they also breathe in the summer months so can be used all year long.
- As you can see from the website and our photos, they’re designs are super cute.
- Finally, they last surprisingly well for slippers, fit well and are worn daily in this home.
These are for indoor and outdoor wearing and come in both men’s and women’s styles and some that work for anyone. Mtn Papa wears his daily at home and in a cabin and often forgets and wears them out of the house too (perfect post-ski shoe!)
While my favorites are the “Laura” (foxes in photo) houseshoes, I wear them outside too. The soles aren’t as sturdy as the Lodge shoes, but have enough of a sole to run outside or in the garage, etc. Plus, I love the designs on them! I also appreciate that I can slip in and out of them very easily.
For the Kids:
I love how these indoor ones stay on so well and the ones that are more than booties (white and pink “Oberfell” on photo and navy with lion “Orbis” below) are awesome traction for new walkers.
Incredible slippers worth the money for warm, protected feet!
