  • Amelia lives with her husband and five young children outside of Jackson, WY in Grand Teton National Park. As a mom, she quickly learned that the secret to sanity was to spend more time outside where tantrums don't see quite so bad. Amelia started TMM in 2012 to help encourage all families (including her own) to get outside, no matter the weather. Due to the necessity of having to keep so many kids warm and happy, she has become an expert in kids' gear and loves being able to share it with others.

  1. Hi

I just bought the swimways Spring Float Recliner and was wondering what the Ply is. I will
be floating down a calm river soon and I was told I had to use a float device that is 3 or 4 Ply.
    Thank you.

    • HI Dana – good question. I honestly don’t know the answer to that. However, I personally wouldn’t use it to float down a river….I don’t think it has quite enough buoyancy. But, that is my opinion!

  2. Hi there!

I have a question about carrying your babe while hiking. We have the Kelty 1.0, and I was wondering if you let your babes sleep in them? There is no where for his head to go?

    Thanks,

    Marianne

    • HI Marianne – yes, we do…we really just can’t avoid it – they love the lull of hikes! πŸ™‚ The packs we have have more of a headrest, but using some small receiving blankets or something like that for when they fall asleep is totally ok as long as you aren’t running or something πŸ™‚ Does that help?

    • Too funny! The best thing I can tell you is there aren’t any πŸ™ Mountain Mama maternity was talking about making them, but it just hasn’t happened. πŸ™ I end up getting big ones at the thrift store and making due with “Make My Belly Fit” πŸ™‚

    • @Katie,
I wore my husband’s ski pants when I was pregnant! I know not the best solution but it’ll do for one season. Good luck :o)

  3. I would love to get some of your stickers to share around @Mable Mountain. I run the @Homeschooling at Marble Mountain group… However we are in Newfoundland and having read your sticker instructions, would you like me to send more to cover postage to Canada?

  4. Hi ladies!
I’d love to see a post on how to get out in winter while pregnant with a 1 1/2 year old who will have to be carried quite a bit. I am 3 mos pregnant and so will be pregnant (and getting much bigger) for the entire pregnancy. I am mostly looking at snowshoeing as skiing, sledding, and skating would not be good options. We live in Maine in a very mountainous area. Our property is mostly steep which is why I don’t anticipate the little one to be able to do much on the ground with snowshoeing. Any suggestions or ideas would be great! I really want to stay active.

    Thanks,

    Verna
