Amphiba Baby Neptune Carrier Review

A comfortable, well-made baby carrier makes all the difference when it comes to baby wearing. There are many different types of carriers to choose from, each with different pros and cons to consider. Soft-structured carriers are a great choice if you’re looking for an ergonomic, all-purpose option that is easy to get off and on. However, not all soft-structured carriers are created equally.

Amphiba Baby Neptune Carrier is a versatile soft-structured carrier that is the perfect choice for active families. It has quickly become one of my favorite options for baby wearing during daily activities and on all types of adventures.

Benefits of Baby Wearing

As an active, busy mama, baby wearing my children during infancy and the toddler years has been a huge part of my mothering experience. Whether I’m trying to cook dinner, do chores on our homestead, or am going out on a hike, having my children in a baby carrier has made life with little ones so much easier.

In addition to being convenient, baby wearing also has numerous benefits for both baby and parent. It stimulates the release of oxytocin, which helps to promote bonding and feelings of relaxation. This helps to keep both baby and mama calmer, which means baby cries less and mama is at a lower risk of postpartum depression.

Research also shows that babywearing in the first month can be helpful for ensuring successful breastfeeding. Additionally, baby wearing can make breastfeeding while out on the go or on an adventure simpler.

A Baby Carrier Designed By a Mama for Mamas

Amphiba Baby is owned by active mama of four, Meagan Pa, who designed the Neptune Carrier with the goal of making life easier for mothers everywhere. The result is a baby carrier that is thoughtfully designed and made with high-quality materials. This versatile and comfortable soft-structured carrier is perfect for outdoor adventures and everyday wear.

I love supporting mom-owned small businesses, so for me, this is another great reason to love Amphiba Baby. And baby gear designed by mamas just tends to be more functional because they truly get what moms need!

Specs and Features of the Amphiba Baby Neptune Carrier

The Amphiba Baby Neptune Carrier has some unique features that set it apart from other soft-structured carriers. Here are a few things that make it special.

Innovative Waterproof Material

One of my favorite features of the Amphiba Baby carrier is that it is waterproof. This makes it the perfect option for babywearing at the pool, beach, river, or splash pad. We’ve also found it really useful on rainy day hikes.

This carrier is made from high-quality, 3-in-1 material. The outer layer is neoprene, which lends UV protection and is waterproof. The inner layer is a “cool max” mesh that wicks away moisture.

Padded Straps and Waistband

The Amphiba baby carrier has a padded waistband and straps. This makes it a really comfortable option for both short and long carries.

Spacious Pockets

Another feature that sets this carrier apart from the other soft-structured carriers I’ve tried is the super spacious pockets. They are so handy for stashing everything from baby’s hat to my wallet and keys while out on adventures. And I love not having to bring along an extra bag! The zipper pocket even has a water-resistant zipper to help keep important items safe.

Rollable Hood

I love the hood for supporting baby’s head during naps and providing protection from the sun. It can also be used for privacy while breastfeeding in public. When not in use, the hood can be rolled up and secured with handy elastic loops.

Adjustable Waist Belt & Straps

The waist belt and strap are highly adjustable to fit different body types. Both my partner and I are able to use this carrier comfortably. I also was able to adjust the waist belt to accommodate my growing pregnant belly all the way into my 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

Designed to Keep Baby Comfortable Year-Round

The Amphiba Baby Carrier is designed to keep baby comfortable in both hot and cold weather. I live in a warmer climate, so I haven’t had the opportunity to test the carrier out in colder temperatures. But, I can say that it is a good option for keeping baby comfortable in warm weather.

Ergonomic Baby Carrier

An ergonomic carrier supports baby’s natural posture, holding their hips and legs in a frog leg or M shape. This promotes healthy development of the neck, spine, pelvis, and hips. An ergonomic baby carrier also distributes the little one’s weight evenly, making it more comfortable for the wearer as well.

The Perfect All-Purpose Carrier for Active Families

As an active family, we get a lot of use out of our baby carriers. For us, it’s important that a baby carrier be sturdy and versatile. The Amphiba Baby carrier has not let us down! It is a great option for the following activities.

Hiking

Our family loves to go hiking together. We have found the Amphiba Baby carrier is comfortable and supportive enough to be used for even longer hikes. And the mesh lining helps to keep our toddler (who tends to run warm) from getting too sweaty.

Water Play

Because the Amphiba Baby carrier is waterproof, and keeps its structure when wet, it allows for safe babywearing at the pool, river, splash pad, and beach. This is a really great feature considering that other soft-structured carriers get really soggy and take forever to dry if they get wet.

Traveling

Babywearing makes traveling with a little one so much easier. The Amphiba Baby Carrier is a particularly good option. It’s nice and comfortable for both the parent and child. And the large pockets make it easy to keep essentials on hand so you don’t have to worry about digging through your bag to look for important items.

Everyday Activities

Babywearing is wonderful for freeing up your hands, without having to put baby down. Our toddler is incredibly active, so baby wearing makes shopping, running errands, doing chores, etc. with him along so much easier and often safer, keeping him nearby and out of mischief.

The Amphiba Baby carrier’s padded straps and waistband means that wearing him, even for extended periods of time, is comfortable. And the extra large pockets are perfect for stashing a few essential items so I don’t need to bother carrying a purse or extra bag.

Naps on the Go

The Amphiba Baby carrier is the perfect cozy place for our little one to take a nap while we’re out on a hike, or running errands. The hood can be snapped on to support baby’s head and keep them from getting too much sun on their face while they sleep.

What We Love

There’s a lot to love about the Amphiba Baby Neptune Carrier! Here are a few of my favorite features.

Waterproof Material

As an outdoorsy, homesteading family, we spend time outdoors in all types of weather. If we’re out on a hike on a rainy day, we always bring along rain gear for our little one, but our baby carriers tend to get pretty soggy if we’re caught in a downpour. The Amphiba Baby Carrier holds its structure, and doesn’t get too heavy, even when wet. It also dries more quickly than other soft-structured carriers we’ve used.

It’s really nice to have a carrier that can be used for a day at the pool, lake, or river without having to worry about it getting wet! I love that this carrier is versatile enough to be used on all our family’s adventures.

Comfortable For Parent & Baby

One of our favorite things about this carrier is that it is really comfortable. This makes it a great option for all types of activities, everything from running errands, to spending the afternoon at the river or pool, to going for a hike.

Designed to Carry Little Ones From Infancy to the Toddler Years

The Amphiba Baby Carrier can be used to carry little ones as small as 7 lbs, all the way up to 45lbs. The adjustable seat is narrowed for smaller babies, and widened as they grow.

Having a carrier that can be used throughout your baby wearing journey helps to save money and makes life so much easier! Babies grow so quickly, I can’t imagine having to worry about switching out all their clothes and their carrier if they have a growth spurt!

What we aren’t so crazy about…

Honestly, there isn’t much we didn’t like about the Amphiba Baby Neptune Carrier. The only thing we didn’t love about it is that when it arrived it smelled strongly of synthetic fragrance— a lot like laundry detergent. I don’t think most people would have an issue with this, as many folks like that “clean laundry” smell. But, our family is sensitive to synthetic scents so we found it a little overpowering.

Safe Baby Wearing in the Water

Since the Amphiba Baby Neptune carrier works so well as a water carrier, I think it’s important to mention a few safety tips based on some of the guidelines that Amphiba Baby shares for safe baby wearing in and around the water.

Follow Standard Baby Wearing Guidelines

Familiarize yourself with the recommendations for safe baby wearing. Be sure to follow these standards to ensure that baby is safe and properly supported while in the carrier.

Keep Feet Firmly Planted

Keep your feet firmly planted on the ground while baby wearing in the water. Be mindful of your footing and the potential for waves or rip currents. Do not go further than waist deep with a baby in the carrier and avoid active swimming.

Be Mindful of Water Temperature

Many indoor pools are kept at a temperature of around 85°F, which is comfortable for baby. But, outdoor pools and other bodies of water like lakes, rivers, and oceans are often much colder. Be sure that baby isn’t get overly chilled in the water. It’s also important to avoid hot tubs or pools that are over 100°F, as this is too hot for children under 3 years of age.

Don’t Carry Baby Facing Out

Carrying baby facing outwards makes it more likely for them to get splashed in the face. Young babies especially aren’t able to shield their face and nose from splashing water. Little ones under the age of 2 months old are more susceptible to catching infections from the bacteria and viruses in the water so it’s best to try to keep them from getting water in their eyes, nose, and mouth.

Closely Monitor Baby While in the Water

Avoid back carrying so that you can always keep an eye on your baby’s breathing and overall well-being while in the water. Carrying baby on your chest, facing inward is the safest position for baby wearing in the water.

Use a Water Carrier

When baby wearing in the water, it’s important to use a carrier that is intended for this purpose. The Amphiba Baby Neptune carrier was specifically designed to hold its structural integrity when wet, making it a safe option for carrying your baby in the water, as long as all other safety guidelines are followed.

A Versatile Baby Carrier for Everyday Adventures

The Amphiba Baby Neptune Carrier is one of my favorite options for a soft-structured carrier. It really is comfortable – even carrying a heavy toddler while in my third trimester of pregnancy felt pretty good in this carrier!

With our third baby arriving soon, I’m looking forward to utilizing the Amphiba Baby Carrier from the beginning of our baby wearing journey with our newest addition. This carrier has been a comfy and versatile way to carry our toddler on all sorts of outings and I’m excited to use it for many more outdoor adventures to come.
