One of the toughest things about getting back into working out after a baby is timing nursing and all that goes along with that (full breasts, hungry babies, and nursing right after a work out.) For all three of my kiddos, I have wished I had a nursing bra that allowed me to quickly feed the baby on the way out the door and then right away again when I came back (because invariably they were hungry again.) I nurse my babies for at least a year (and usually much longer than that), so having good nursing bars is important. When I was pregnant with L, I stumbled upon the first dedicated nursing sports bra I have ever come across and quickly reached out to the company.
Based in Australia, Cake Lingerie caters to pregnant and nursing women. While the shop is certainly very far away from us here in Wyoming, they do cater to worldwide customers with affordable shipping rates and a 30 day return policy. Cake agreed to send me one of their Orange Zest Sports Bras and matching Brief.
**You bet your bottom dollar there will be no photos me *ever* in my skivvies on this blog. We’ll gladly use their model photos instead so you can see what I’m talking about**
The sizing can be a bit tricky because they use a different system than we do in the US or in Europe. However, they do have sizing charts on all their products to help you compare and also are available to answer questions quickly. Since I ordered mine when I was still pregnant, it was even more of a gamble. Lucky me – I got it right (thanks to advice from their customer service).
What I love:
- Incredible support, even for larger cup sizes
- Comfortable and breathable with mesh inserts
- Wide straps with a racer back conversion clip
- Slight padding for shape and modesty
- Built so it keeps its shape even while nursing
- Washes well, wears well, can easily be worn daily
What I wasn’t so crazy about:
- I am never super fond about paying around $80 for a bra, but this one is honestly worth it.
About the Brief:
While I was certainly more focussed on the bra, the brief really is great too. It is sold separately so you can purchase the correct size for your bottom half (opposed to being sold in a set.) It sits well (no riding up) and breathes great!
Bottom Line:
Highly recommended for any mama that is nursing and needs to be able to feed her babies AND work out! Cake Lingerie also has other great pieces for pregnant and nursing mamas – I have some that I love!
Cake Lingerie generously provided us this gear in order to facilitate this review. However, as always, the opinions expressed here are completely and honestly our own! You can find my full disclosure here.
